Even More Trade Show Tips

If possible, give live demonstrations of your product. Seeing someone with a microphone actually doing something, instead of just standing and answering questions, will always draw a crowd.

It's wise to have at least one person on the booth staff walk around to the front of the booth (instead of inside it behind a table) and mingle with the show-goers. It gives your exhibition a personal touch. And remember to put everyone in matching shirts (or, even better, whole outfits) with your company logo on them, so attendees know to whom to direct questions.

Have a photo album lying out and open at your booth. Fill it with pictures of your employees interacting with smiling customers. Use pictures from parties, presentations or workshops held for clients. Label the pictures to further reinforce the fact that you are a successful business with many satisfied customers.

Hire a hot, young model to work at your booth. Yeah it's shallow, but it works. Well. Make sure she (it's currently the case that men make up the greater percentage of show-goers, but this is changing) isn't a complete dingbat, though, as you'll need her to convincingly market your product or service.

If you're terribly anti-social or otherwise uncomfortable "pimping" your product to strangers at your booth, and you don't have someone else in your company with a flare for this sort of thing, then hire a presenter. There are people who specialize in trade show promotions. Trade shows are too important a marketing tool to do badly. Professionalism and enthusiasm are vital.

Set out a bowl full of mints or M&Ms or some other candy. This sounds a bit childish, but it's remarkably successful. No one passes by a booth if they see a bowl full of chocolate in it.
